On Tuesday, September 16th, Womble Bond Dickinson attorneys Jasmine Chalashtori, Michael Clark, and Martha Zackin presented virtually on recent DOJ initiatives. Their presentation, “DOJ’s Civil Rights Fraud Initiative: FCA Enforcement Against DEI Programs,” was attended by over 50 clients and colleagues seeking guidance on how to comply with recent Executive Orders and Department of Justice memos.
The program opened with Chalashtori giving attendees a primer on the False Claims Act (FCA) and outlining enforcement areas related to FCA. Next, Zackin highlighted several recent Executive Orders and DOJ memos that relate to DEI policies and discriminatory practices. Clark followed by expounding upon the DOJ Civil Rights Initiative, including touching on FCA penalties, financial incentives, and FCA defense strategies. Finally, the panel closed with key takeaways and client guidance for proactive risk mitigation and lawful DEI programs.
